Week 3 Construction – Removing, installing, applying

With the launch of Sydney School of Entrepreneurship coming up on Wednesday 16 August (Save The Date!), our future home continues to be transformed.

SSE’s central HQ and campus is located in Ultimo’s cultural, educational and entrepreneurial quarter, with its building on TAFE NSW campus across the road from UTS.

This week, construction has focused on removing all redundant pipework, installing cables and applying final coats of paint. The next step will be installing the ground floor bar and seating. We are excited to see how our future campus (building J) is going through rapid changes to create an inclusive and unique environment of learning.

Back in the days, in 1940, the building served as the Technical Bootmaking School – one of three new trade school buildings erected at Ultimo. With 440 students enrolled in 1946 and a local supply of leather (a by-product of Australia’s pastoral industry), the school brought great activity to the area where industry members and students came together to practice the art of shoe making. Where the building previously only gave room to students from one particular discipline, it will now become a home for students from a range of backgrounds, disciplines, demographics and locations to collaborate and innovate together under one roof.
