SSE Response to the Floods Crisis in QLD & NSW

Written by Dr Sarah Jones | 18 March 2022

Like the rest of Australia, here at SSE we have been watching with great sadness as the flood crisis continues to unfold across parts of Queensland and New South Wales. We are incredibly saddened to see the magnitude of loss and devastation that is impacting the regions and extend our thoughts to those who have been impacted.

We know that the road to recovery after such flooding can be challenging; but it is also during such times that we witness communities unite to deliver miracles and remind us the power of working together. The team at SSE wish to acknowledge the phenomenal work of all the people both on the ground, and behind the scenes, delivering much needed support, time, and resources to those in need.

If you have been impacted and need to talk, mental health services such Lifeline and Beyond Blue are available to you at any time of day, either via phone or online chat.

As is 'the Australian way', countless organisations are already providing support and donations through various funds and managed recovery efforts. If you are in a position to donate, Givit is an innovative platform that manages how donations are distributed, so as not to add pressure onto a community that is already suffering. In line with the NSW Government, we ask that you donate responsibly to communities in need and consider all the ways that you can help during this time. If you are able, you can also donate to the Red Cross Flood Appeal or the St Vincent de Paul Society.

SSE extends its warmest thoughts to all who have been impacted by this event and remains hopeful that a community-wide response of support will result in expedited recovery, rebuild, and new horizons.
