Applications are open for the third Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE) International Bootcamp to China

It’s a six day immersion program for startups and growth companies to learn, partner and pitch with the best of the best. SSE sent two Australian startups to China on a recent bootcamp in June.

Sahil Harriram co-founded Elite Robotics whilst studying at The University of Newcastle. The company builds intelligent, autonomous vehicle platforms – think mobile robots.

Sahil attended an SSE Speaker Series at The University of Newcastle where Bo Ji, a global entrepreneur and Assistant Dean of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, spoke about tapping into the China market. This encouraged Sahil to apply for the SSE International Bootcamp and pitch his business to Chinese investors.

“I had a feeling that this program was going to be the next big step for us. It was a million times better than I’d originally anticipated.”

“The pitch events were crazy – on the first night our pitch was livestreamed to over 430,000 people.”

“There are so many investors interested in our technology. To reach that many investors in Australia would have taken at least 12 months,” said Sahil Harriram.

AusMask is another startup to join the SSE International Bootcamp in China. AusMask was founded in November 2017 by brothers Elias and Isaac Honor, and childhood friend Jack Graham. They developed the first anti-pollution mask with Australian botanicals embedded into the filter, designed to ease health issues caused by pollution. They pitched to– the second biggest e-commerce site in China and organised a deal to launch AusMask on the site’s crowdfunding platform.

“On this program you’re constantly innovating and surrounded by people who are seasoned entrepreneurs, staying up long nights and many hours – it sharpens your mind very quickly. That’s something that you couldn’t achieve in several years, and you’ve done it in a week,” said Isaac Honor.

Elite Robotics and AusMask both plan to launch products in the coming months.
