Unit – The Navigator
For the curious mind – come discover the world of Australian entrepreneurship
Our core unit The Navigator – helping you ‘navigate’ local startup ecosystems is currently in session.
‘The Navigator’ is a ten-week online and face-to-face learning activity open to all undergraduate students enrolled at 11 New South Wales universities and TAFE NSW colleges, from all locations, disciplines and interests.
Break away from the pack
We are not your typical School. We are a not-for-profit startup offering an unprecedented chance to access entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and networks at little to no cost. If you live outside Sydney we will cover all travel and accommodation expenses.
This unit is real world, project-based – there are no exams. You will have the chance to connect with industry clusters, startups and government initiatives. It is dynamic, fun and collaborative; counting towards your university degree or TAFE NSW program – but you won’t be stuck in a lecture hall.
Starting-up with community, knowledge and skills – in business and beyond
Entrepreneurship is that cutting-edge drive and desire to impact change. There’s no better way to give your entrepreneurial ambitions a kickstart than by joining The Navigator.
You will become a lifetime member of the diverse SSE community. This means making those unlikely friendships that provide the collaborative spirit for true entrepreneurial successes. It means sharing information, discussing ideas and receiving invitations to further classes and activities run by SSE (as well as our member universities/TAFE NSW and our industry partners).
The Navigator is immersive. It’s highly experiential. You will broaden your mindset and skills by working in inter-institutional, cross-disciplinary teams of like-minded peers from right across NSW. The unit is curated by University of Technology Sydney, Charles Sturt University, Macquarie University, and UNSW Sydney. These unlikely inter-institutional alliances combine personalities, knowledge and expertise that otherwise never interact – just one more reason why The Navigator is so unique.

We’ve got you covered
The unit runs from the 25 July for 10 weeks with flexible online activities and two face-to-face intensive blocks at our campus in Ultimo, Sydney. See dates further down.
We believe in making opportunity accessible. SSE charges no fees for this unit. Students from outside Sydney will be fully funded by an SSE scholarship for travel and accommodation costs.
If you do this unit for credit towards your university of TAFE NSW program, a fee may be applied by your home institution.
For credit or co-curricular?
The Navigator is available either for credit towards your university degree/TAFE NSW program or you can do it as an extra, co-curricular activity. No fees apply for co-curricular students, academic transcripts will potentially recognise your participation in this unit and you will receive a certificate of completion.
If the unit is credited towards a degree or diploma then normal student fees apply. Check our FAQ’s to find out more about accreditation fees.
