Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE) has won a prestigious global industry award for 2018 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Centre at the annual conference of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centres (GCEC) being held in Chicago, USA.
The GCEC is the leading global organisation representing university-based entrepreneurship centres, with 250 members collaborating to advance, strengthen and celebrate the function of universities in educating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The award was judged from a strong field of international universities with a new entrepreneurship centre less than five years old.
SSE CEO Nick Kaye was present last night at the 2018 GCEC awards presentation ceremony held in Chicago to accept the award.
“I’m extremely honoured to accept the award for Most Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Centre on behalf of the SSE community,” said CEO Nick Kaye.
“The vision of the NSW Government to invest in such an ambitious entrepreneurship school, and the tremendous support and goodwill of our 12 member institutions is what makes SSE an outstanding new venture.
“Sydney School of Entrepreneurship is an unprecedented collaboration between all 11 NSW universities and TAFE NSW. Our mission is to build a diverse community of next-generation entrepreneurs, creating high growth companies and jobs of the future.
“SSE enjoyed a highly impactful first year of operations, welcoming more than 4,000 participants, including academic faculty, student entrepreneurs, startups and industry partners at more than 100 activities hosted at our Sydney campus and member campuses across the state.
“We’re Sydney in name but statewide in operations, bringing together student entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and locations across NSW. The cross-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration creates a larger common stage for entrepreneurship to thrive.
“SSE is undergoing an exciting curriculum development in our second year, rolling out four new units of study at the cutting edge of experiential entrepreneurship education,” said Nick Kaye.
