Fast 5 with Lead, Facilitation & Engagement, Frank Newman
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received, personally or professionally?
Go hard, go fast, or don’t go at all.
What do you do to set yourself up for the day ahead?
Have two coffees!
What do you do to unwind after a long day?
Walk the dog – a spoodle named Harvey, aka The Harvenator – in the park, cook, listen to news podcasts, and watch whatever I’m into streaming that week!
What do you love most about your job, and why?
I really enjoy the variety of people we engage with. It means we have to think deeply about the needs of many, many different types of learners. This means we meet – and have to get to know and connect with, sometimes in a fairly short space of time – lots of different types of people, with the aim of helping them overcome some of their challenges, or to help nurture or grow an idea they may have had for a long time, or one they didn't even know they had!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I’d fly. The feeling would be incredible.
What’s the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I once sold popcorn in a circus and performed as a clown!
What’s on your skills-building agenda for 2025?
In 2025 I'd love to master some of the skills I have been messing around with for years, like doing a proper handstand and refining my writing.
Are there any desktop or mobile applications you can’t live without?
Yes definitely, Spotify!
